Dashboard Task Card - Linked Values

We have a few different Tasks that are part of activity sets to pipeline stages.  We use the completion of these tasks as a metric to see where we are at.   For example, Initial Meeting Completed in an Opportunity.

We have easily created a Dashboard card that shows a radial gauge, with the number of meetings completed in the last 30 days, but what we really want is the Opportunity Value Sum of those meetings in the last 30 days.

For example:

  • Meeting 1: $50,000
  • Meeting 2: $20,000
  • Meeting 3: $30,000
  • Meeting 4: $100,000

So instead of saying 4 Meetings, we want to see $20,000 in the card.   We see where we can use the "Linked Opportunity" in the card, but do not see any way to reference the Opportunity Value in that card.   Is this not possible?

  • Hi Tony,

I recommend using Zapier webhooks with Insightly API to auto-update the opportunity value or opportunity custom field every time those specific tasks are complete.

Let me know if you need assistance with development. It shouldn't take long to create.

    Thank you,

    Micah Feldkamp

  • Our team is updating the values when they mark the task complete, thats not the issue.  The issue is getting the card to give the monetary value of those fields based off the link tasks.

Right now we have the radial gauge set to Tasks and are filtering on the task direct name, it is marked completed, then counting all tasks completed in the last 30 days.

So right now, we have a radial guage that shows 4 in the above example.   We want the guage to show $200,000,  but all we have to reference is the task being completed as the Opportunity value changes as often as more information is given after the first meeting.

So unless you are thinking we use a web hook, that triggers when a task is complete then updates a custom date field in the Opportunity, and then we use the Opportunity as a filter against that date???

  • Yes, reporting off opportunities instead with a custom date field will work and you will get the opportunity value. This may be more accurate too especially if you report on multiple tasks for the same opportunity.

  • Hi Tony,

Is the opportunity value consistent with each meeting task? If it is not, I recommend creating a custom field in your tasks for "meeting value". You could then easily create the sum total of the meeting value of each task in the dashboard.

Micah is spot on with the idea of updating the value of the opportunities based on the meetings and I recommend still updating the value of the opportunities based upon the meeting value.
