Required fields - to be filled up when converting

Hello,

We have some fields in Opportunity that are required, but they are not converted from Lead. Also, some fields in Project are required but not converted directly from Opportunity. Therefore, our users do not have a chance to fill up these fields. In results, the fields are left blank in Opportunity and Project, or if it is a system object field, a very strange default value will be assigned, of which the default value cannot be changed.

I would like to see if it is possible to add these required fields in the page when converting, so users can fill up them.

Thank you!

To make a field required in the form, visit the Objects and Fields, select your object and then you can set individual fields to be required in Page Layouts.

  • Eric, thank you for the reply.

I already have the field set up as required, but as these fields are not converted fields from the previous stage, our users do not have a chance to fill them up when doing conversion. This usually cause the lost of information. When the field is a system object field, a default value will be generated which is not correct. Is there any way to change this default value?

Do you have any idea of solving this problem? Thank you!

  • I think its as simple as running a report or creating a list view to showcase the missing data and either create tasks to update them or just do it. As they are updated, the list view refreshes and they disappear. Think of it like "matching deposits in QuickBooks."

  • Thank you Eric! I guess that's the only way to monitor it from reports.

  • I'd use List Views in the Opp, but ya. You could also use the API to create a task or notification. Happy to help with that part.
