Issues with modified Task Reminders not going to Gmail

I'm having all kinds of issues with Task reminders. Anyone else have gmail block 2nd task reminders and what did you do about it?

When a task is created for myself and I add a task reminder, it comes to my email just fine.

When I change that task reminder to another time or date, it will not go to my gmail.

Insightly help says this is my gmail blocking the email on a higher level (even though the reminders come from the exact same email address).

I've added the email address in contacts, put a filter on to never let it go to spam, etc.

I've posted on gmail help boards about it with no response.

I am not the admin of our gmail, my boss is, and he has NO time for this. We are a small company. Any suggestions on how I might start with this?
