Copy Field Contents from Linked Object to Another

I am looking for a way to copy the contents of a specific object field to a linked object field.  How can this be done?   Thank you in advance for your help!

  • Jared I think that the easiest way to do this is a copy and paste by means of export and import. The only limitation here is that you need to ensure that fields in both objects are of the same type.

  • Hi Jared,

    1. Create a report that shows the linked item ID and the field values you are wanting to transfer over from the original object.
    2. Upload the information to the new information by updating the object.

If you would like to walk through this on a call I am happy to help.

  • Hi Jared,

I do this regularly with the API and Zapier or other programming interface. One is a GET and the other a PUT or POST. It looks a little like this...

Beyond this, you can also copy fields to fields from leads to contacts or opps to projects with the Conversion settings but that is a one time thing and can only be done if a user uses the built in conversion. I use both.
