Insightly Classic is the old version of Insightly. It's not available to new accounts. Users on Insightly Classic can switch over to the latest version.
Converting a lead will automatically create a contact, opportunity, and organization and copy information from the original lead to the new records. In the process, Insightly will transfer recognized fields like names and phone numbers to the new records.
To transfer your own custom fields, you'll need to map the fields you've created and duplicated in the different objects. This tells Insightly where to place custom field information when the new records are created.
To map a custom field from leads to other records:
- Make sure you have same the custom field with the same configuration for your leads and any records where you'd like to transfer information. The easiest way to do this is to duplicate the lead field.
- Click the profile menu and go to System Settings > Lead Field Mapping.
- On the Lead Field Mapping page, there are sections for opportunity fields, contact fields, and organization fields. In the Lead to Opportunity Custom Field Mappings section, locate the lead field that you would like to map to opportunities. In this example, we'll map the Region field.
- From the list, select the opportunity field to match to. You can choose only one custom opportunity field for each lead field.
- In the Contact Custom Field Mappings section, locate the lead field that you would like to map to contacts.
- From the list, select the contact field to match to. You can only choose one custom contact field for each lead field.
- Select an option from the When Linking to an Existing Contact list. This indicates how to treat the field if you link to an existing contact instead of creating a new one when converting the lead.
- Overwrite... will update the chosen contact's custom fields with the information from the lead.
- Skip... will not update the chosen contact.
- In the Organization Custom Field Mappings section, locate the lead field that you would like to map to organizations.
- From the list, select the organization field to match to. You can only choose one custom organization field for each lead field.
- Select an option from the When Linking to an Existing Organization list. This indicates how to treat the field if you link to an existing contact instead of creating a new one when converting the lead.
- Overwrite... will update the chosen organization's custom fields with the information from the lead.
- Skip... will not update the chosen organization.
- Click Save Custom Field Mappings.
When a lead is converted, its custom fields will now be copied to the fields you've selected.
