Gmail Gadget - Email Not Found

We have used the gmail gadget for many years without any issues but recently all of our users are experiencing this error message when we try to save an email from our inbox:

Error Saving View Contact

Email not found

This happens on both new clients that do not have any previous history on insightly for as well as current clients that we already have there.

Sometimes when we login again it wors normally but then these errors start again. There is no obvious pattern or type of client that triggers these error messages.

Any idea what we can do to fix this issue?

  • Hi Andrew,

This was a site performance issue that we have been informed has been resolved. You will need to make sure you have allowed popups on your browser(s) in order for the Gmail Gadget to work. Here are some instructions.

Let me know if you continue to see an error.

  • We're experiencing same problem as Andrew. Also we've used the gadget in gmail for years, but in the last few days it hasn't been functional.

We've allowed all popups in browser (Chrome).

Yes - we followed all the steps you suggested but still get this as an inconsistently appearing error.

  • Same problem here. Some emails can be saved, but most of them get the "Email not found"-error. And it happens not only to long threads, even Reply-emails fail.

  • Hi all,

Are the emails that are not saving ones for non replies and alias email addresses?

  • No - in our experience they are not exclusively for non-replies or alias email addresses

  • I am still experiencing this problem. It seems that certain e-mail want to save and certain e-mail do not. I have not really discovered a pattern yet, but it seems that every time it involves the same e-mails.

Would be great if this got some priority to be fixed as it is hurting productivity working between Gmail and Insightly quite a lot.

    Thanks for your efforts.

    Regards,
    Jeroen

  • I believe you getting this error message when saving an email from your SENT folder of Gmail. There were some unexpected updates that Google has made recently, so the Gmail Gadget only has permission to view your Inbox folder at this time. So if you try to save an email from your SENT folder for instance, you'll see the error.

As a workaround, when viewing your Sent email, there's an option to "Move to Inbox". Then you should be able to save emails from there. (You can move the email back when you're done.)

As Nora mentioned we are working on this and will keep you posted through this post.

  • Thanks for the update but this workaround will not help us as this is happening in our Inbox not our Sent folder. We are trying to save an email that has been SENT but viewing it in the INBOX when we get the error message.

  • Thanks, Lyla. It seems that moving to the inbox is not always possible as it might be that the original message is archived and when somebody replies to the thread the messages are in the inbox, but the problem still occurs.

  • Hi all:

Thanks for circling back with this info. We have found that the workaround does not work when you have conversation view turned on, sorry about that. We are working on this and hope to have it resolved soon.

  • Same issue here as of Jun23!! All my emails show "Error Saving: Email Not Found" Error.

This is affecting our work substantially! As you know, when you dont save the email on the fly it is VERY difficult to go back to try to do this retroactively. This could result in significant customer dis-satisfaction or loss, and lack of follow on sales that can directly impact sales figures.

PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHEN THIS IS RESOLVED!

    Thanks,

    Hans

My manager just reported the same exact issue to me as well with the 'email not found'.  I am making sure she gets the Insightly sidebar tool as well but will watch this post to get updates. thanks!

  • Hi everyone:

We're really sorry we  haven't been able to determine the root cause of this yet. We know it is impacting a lot of you. While the team continues to work on this you can forward your emails to your Insightly email address to save a copy in your account.

  • Thanks for the updates but it seems zero progress has been made on fixing this since it was first reported. Is there anything else we can do to get this resolved? Anywhere else we can report it or is this forum the only support channel available?

Our business processes are based on this functionality working as it used to, so this is now getting to the point where we will have to start looking at alternatives if this does not get fixed soon.

  • Hello everyone,

Apologies for this issue as it was one of those bugs that took a little longer to discover the root cause of, but i am happy to let you know that we have resolved it and are in the process of complying a release. I will make sure to inform this thread as soon as that happens.

Again, we understand how frustrating this has been for you and your business processes and appreciate your patience with us.

  • Hi hpetersen:

You may need to log out of your Gmail, clear your browser cache and log back in to get the gadget to reappear. Can you try this and let us know the outcome?

Here are instructions on how to clear your cache. Instructions are included for all popular browsers, just in case you need them.
