Overview
Email Threading is available for CRM users who are using Email Sync feature. You can access it from the “Threaded Emails” list view within the Emails object. Email Threading groups related messages into a single, organized conversation, helping you view communication in context, streamline email tracking, and reduce the time spent searching through individual email records.
What Is Email Threading?
Email Threading automatically identifies and groups related messages—such as replies, forwards, and ongoing conversations—into one consolidated thread.
Instead of viewing multiple separate email records, you’ll see a single thread containing the full message history.
Each thread includes:
All replies and forwards that belong to the same conversation
The original subject line
A unified, timeline-style layout
Easy navigation between emails within the thread
A modernized, more readable interface
You can still open any individual email record—threads are an added layer of organization, not a replacement for email objects.
Who Can See Email Threads?
Email Threading follows the same permission-based visibility rules as individual emails.
If a user does not have permission to view at least one email within a thread, the entire thread will be hidden from the Emails list.
This ensures that email privacy and security remain consistent across your organization.
How Email Threads Work
Insightly detects related messages using standard email threading identifiers (such as Message-ID and In-Reply-To).
These grouped emails appear in your Emails list as a single record under Threaded Emails.
When you open a thread, you’ll access the dedicated Thread View, where you can:
Read each message in chronological order
Expand or collapse individual emails
View participants and conversation history
Navigate into individual email objects
Note: Related items can only be added from individual email records, not from the thread itself.
What You Can Do in the Thread View
Within a thread, you can:
View the full conversation in one place
Open individual emails
Add links to records under Related Items (via the individual emails)
Return to the Emails List View at any time
