No email field in Organizations?

Hi, since the recent change with emails in Organizations, I no longer have the field 'email' at all in my profile. How do I add it in order to have emails associated with that organisation?

    You would need to create a Custom Field and enter your Organization's email address there.

  • Tracey, it will not work for you until they will have added new type of custom field that ensure that Insightly will work as it did before last "great" update. Stay calm and wait, it will be soon.

    Same problem here, we had all our clients e-mail in Organization but the field has disappeared since the last update. We need that issu to be solve asap…

  • "Our next system update is due within a few days and will provide you with an easy, one-click process to create custom fields and transfer your excess data automatically. This update will include a new "Email" custom field that will have the same matching function as the main email field, so it will automatically link saved email messages to an existing contact rather than creating a duplicate contact.

    The new setting will appear on the Contact Information File Export page in step 2. We'll update this article with new instructions the moment we release that update."

    I wonder - when does this update arrive? Meanwhile, tons of duplicate Contacts are created due to existing Contacts with several email addresses (formal, shortened, aliases etc.)

    Insightly team have released the tool to move e-mails and phones back to contacts and organisations. It works well. You can find a video Insightly made on how to use the tool, and also written instructions on how to use the tool below.

    I have noticed and reported only one minor bug. In the case you have contact duplicates after the one-email period, it is not possible to transfer e-mails of both of them. Only one e-mail, originally of master contact, is transferred. Moreover, master e-mail is duplicated after SmartMerge.

    You're correct the tool has been released which will allow you to restore your extra data into Custom Fields with one click of a button. This option is available under System Settings > Contact Information File Export. The new custom fields will be placed in the Details section at the top of contact or organization records.

    The custom field limits on your account will be increased by one for every new field you create, so these changes will not impact your current plan subscription.

    We have Release Notes available which addresses all changes here.

  • We've done this exercise with org and contacts. Seems acceptable for now, but this change is pretty time consuming. I think it's pretty arrogant to lauch such a change without letting your customers prepare for it in advance.

    Some negative consequenses from a customer perspective:

    - Merging of extra duplicates

    - No time to prepare users for change.

    - No linking of emails (extra addresses) before fields are restored.

    - Constraints in sorting fields logically in Org details / Contact details

    - Not possible to restore extra Addresses

    - Ad hoc change of structure without warning. Need to move/restructure data and set new mapping for import/export.

    Bug reported: New custom fields/setup are not visible to users without admin rights.

    I'm sorry you feel this way, this was not our intention at all. With this update, we are going to be able to add faster and simpler reporting, the option to import from other data sources, the ability to email linked contacts from projects, tasks, and opportunities just to name a few. Additional details are here, if you haven't seen this yet.

    Let me look into the custom field set up you're describing and get back to you. I'll reply in this thread and f I need more information I'll be in touch too.
