How do I email a lead?

Am I not able to email a lead?  I find that hard to believe.  I simply want to send an email to a lead similar of how to send an email to a contact.  I clicked the link within a lead:emails section and it took my to the emails tab on the left navigation. I tried to search that Lead's email address, name etc. but it does not show up in the results.  I have the Plus plan. I would rather not mess with mailchimp and external integrations.  I don't see how I cannot email a lead as that is very much part of a lead's life cycle.

thoughts?

Thanks, Nic

  • Hi Nic,

We are working on a plan so you can email leads. In the meantime, that lead will need to be converted to a contact so you can email them from Insightly or the lead can be exported so you can mail them from your default mail program. Thanks!

  • Is this close to working by way of Gmail or only insightly? I didn't know you couldn't email directly from Leads like Contacts and have been importing my prospects as Leads so I do not mix them with Contacts (Clients). If they become a client, I would then move them or convert to Contacts.

    Thank you,
    Derrick

edit: this seems to work if you right-click and open in a new window upon further investigation...the only difference I see in the links of "Contacts" and "Leads" email is the & sign at the end of the link.

  • Hi Kaizen, thank you for your feedback!

There are two ways to email a lead:

    1. You can open the lead and click on the email address itself. This will open a new tab on your browser for whichever email provider you're logged into so you can send an email that way.

    2. Open the lead and click on the emails tab. There is a button that says,"Send Email" and you can use that to send an email.

    I hope this helps!

  • Hi Jessica, that is what I was doing and it doesn't work. If you copy the email address link and paste it in a new tab, it will automatically open up your email client, in my case gmail.  However, when in Contacts, it's automatic.  I found a fix and perhaps it's my browser (Chrome), but if I turned on "Inline Editing" under settings, I could then just click the link while in Leads otherwise it's a dead link. No idea why.

  • @Derrick - Thank you for letting us know!

I'm glad you found something that worked. It sounds like it might be a browser issue as I wasn't able to replicate it on my end.

Please let us know if you run into any further issues with this!

    Thank you!
