Bulk edit for Leads

First of all thanks again for making the Lead management available to all plans.

Is there a specific reason for not having Bulk edit with Leads (like we have with contacts and organization)?

That's also a pretty cool feature!

  • Hi Jonathan,

    Thanks for replying.

I can't speak for anyone else, but that sort of frustrating hack is not what I need or what I would expect from a capable CRM. If the solution is to resort to an export and then re-import or records, I think that's a clear measure of failure. What a frustrating waste of time.

The irony here is that if select a group of contacts, I have a button that lets me bulk edit them. That's what I want for leads. Just that; it's very simple, you've already made the exact feature for another record type.

    Cheers,

    Ian

  • I agree 100% with Ian, it's a very simple request, but of great importance!

  • I agree with Ian that an export/import option is too difficult and cumbersome. It is important to be able to update a collection of leads directly in Insightly.

  • @Ian, @M.H., @Carmen Thanks for your response - this clears things up a bit. I will relay this feedback to the product team.

  • I vote to add this -- would like to be able to update Lead Status for multiple leads at one time.

  • Agreed 100%  I tried the export and import solution suggested and it instead changed the user responsible for ALL leads I reimported and didn't even make the edit I needed.  Do you have a timeline as to when bulk editing leads will be available.  Very important.

  • It seems to be a pretty fundermental and basic function. Our consulting business is talking leads from our website, and the list is growing. In order not to waste time with dead or un reactive  leads that register but do no more we need to change their status, and as equally as important,  a strong lead needs to have its status changed as well. When there are multiple changes needed, this is frustrating. For a CRM package not to offer bulk changing of lead status, especially when a marketing campaign is done is a little short sighted and small minded not to have this capability.

  • It would be great if we could bulk convert leads -> contacts as well.

  • Need to be able to bulk edit "Lead Status" !!

  • This seems to be a massive oversight!  Just started using insightly for the main reason of tracking the results of mail marketing.  I need to be able to bulk update lead records to track who I have sent a brochure to.  I'm sending out hundreds and can't enter this manually.  The suggested workaround of exporting, editing and re-importing records is clunky and a great way to introduce errors if done on a regular basis.

  • Also, when using the export / edit / import workaround, insightly over writes the existing lead source with a single selection during import so a bulk edit of all leads (with multiple sources) isn't possible.

  • This is absolutely not what I'm looking for. I want a bulk edit for Leads, just like we have for Contacts.  Not having this is absurd, and anyone defending this is the enemy here.  There's no reason to need to train people on using two different methodologies and needlessly complicate things by using importing for bulk editing leads, when it's pretty simple what we need to do.  For instance, updating a custom field on a lead to be the same for a large group of leads that have been imported at different times, etc.

Come on guys, don't try to pretend this is covered.

    Best,

    James

  • Sadly -- after 2 years of asking -- this has still not been done.

I thought I'd post an update as we are cancelling our Insightly subscription this week and this has by far been one of our biggest frustrations. Having easy bulk editing for contacts, but needing to export and then re-import leads is something we've just put up with. I spend more time in Excel than Insightly... and that's not right.

In case anyone was interested, our other main reason for moving away from Insightly is its current weakness around visualising a sales pipeline. We'd attempted to use opportunities alongside some custom reports, but these were not really good enough (in terms of sophistication or visualisation). We started to investigate integrating Trello to provide pipeline visualisation for Insightly, but, on balance, it was easier to move to another CRM.

I still think Insightly is a good CRM, but it's not right for us. Those two frustrations pretty much saw it working against us on a daily basis.

  • I'm on day 4 of my trial and running into this.  I was in the "buy" category.....but moving towards "bye".  Not a developer....but seems like a simple fix to implement the same code that works so well for contacts into leads.  I'm opening each lead one-by-one to change one stupid entity.  Frustrating.

  • While I DO NOT like to have to bulk edit leads, there are DEFINITELY use cases where it becomes necessary. The whole reason we are giving your CRM a go is to help minimize the extra steps and manual editing. If we cannot switch one field (i.e. referred by custom field, etc.) for 100 leads, that means we either have to strategically update via import or go one-by-one - in either case, there is a bigger chance for errors, and we now have to devote more manpower to that task. Please add this feature - since it is already an option under contacts, I cannot imagine that coding it into leads would take a miracle or a massive amount of time!

  • Still no ability to bulk change lead status? How is this not a standard functionality?!

  • Right lead status and I would like to be able to add notes as well. Working as a call center we use Excel to call from for ease of use due to lack of a quick lead assignment and calling. But this bulk edit feature and adding notes feature would be ideal.

  • It's really strange. Bulk Edit and Bulk convert to contact is just a must-have feature. It was requested ages ago. I really need it too.

  • Hey Marco,

Insightly's new User Experience does have bulk editing functions for our contacts!

More information on bulk editing can be found here

Regarding a bulk conversion of leads feature, that is something not currently on our roadmap but the more traction it receives on our community page, the more visibility it has with our team!
