Files saved with emails

While it is great that files attached to an email are saved to insightly when an email is saved,  often you also get the senders email signature images as well which are not wanted.  Would it be possible to prompt to save each file associated with the email as it is saved?

  • Oh thank you so much for raising this Adam. This is a particular nightmare when receiving lots of emails with signatures and twitter/facebook links in.

  • Hi Jredford:

This is not currently planned. We do acknowledge this feature would be helpful. However, we've just focused on other features for now.

Your feedback does help us with planning our roadmap, we appreciate your votes and comments in the community!

  • Agree that addressing signatures as attached files would be great. Optimally, there would be some way to filter out files clearly used in an email's signature.

  • It would be great if you can solve this question. It is terribly inconvenient.

This has now been made worse because we're now prompted with the "Are you sure you want to delete this file?" prompt every time we attempt to delete these small files. (Once in awhile I've seen the ability to tell Insightly not to display this message any more, but I don't get that option all the time.) I've just looked at one project for which there are 1,642 attached files and I'll bet 50%-ish of them are these silly email signature graphics.

I'm beginning to lose patience with this issue. There have been requests for this feature throughout 2015 and as recently as June 2016 and while there have been lots of empathetic responses from Insightly team members ("great idea!," "understand your frustration") and it's great to know that postings in this forum are being read, there has been no concrete response about plans to deal with it.

It seems that these posts are all asking for this to be resolved:

Perhaps this request should be higher on your to-do list than it is?

Show us some love Insightly team!

  • Definitely would like to see this. Surely it makes sense too, keeps the servers free from unnecessary image files.

  • This is a huge bug IMO. Not only do you have to choose to save ALL attachments (including the email sig components) or none, when I go in and delete, one by one, the rubbish images, they reappear when I click away and come back!

Is there any progress on this please?

  • This is a horrible design.  Only attached files should be saved.  Inline images should not.  It's a pretty simple fix.  And it's being asked for a lot.

Of course maybe they don't want to fix this so they can charge for more storage space ;)

  • I agree that this is a real annoyance. Would it be possible to block some files from simply ever being captured? For instance, I almost never care about image files such as png or jpg. It is mostly these files that are in email signatures (including png files in my own signature). Just allow a list of file types that never get captured and stored.

  • Hello Everyone,

Thanks for your feature request and feedback!

We currently have a main post on this subject with lots of activity and comments.

You can find the post here.

I suggest adding your comment and vote there this way the more activity a request receives, the more likely it is to be considered for implementation.

Thanks for your time and patience!
