Web to contact custom fields / drop down menu
Hi guys, this has probably been asked before (checked but no answer on those posts).
1st i would like to know if i can add a custom field to the web to contact (havent been able to do that) also some kind of better design would be great the letter is pretty basic the square of the custom fields are overlapping a little bit.
And a drop down menu would be great to know where the lead came from, like referal, newspaper, social networks, etc...

Hello, everyone, this feature has been delivered. Insightly web forms now support custom fields.
Here is an article on how to work with your web forms: https://support.insight.ly/hc/en-us/articles/204248000-Using-Web-to-Contact-or-Web-to-Lead-webforms
And since custom fields are now supported you can set up a custom fields types to be drop-downs, checkboxes, etc.https://www.insightly.com/product-news/new-custom-field-options-and-settings/?hlst=field+types
Thanks for your votes!
Hello,
The Web To Contacts HTML form that Insightly provides has no layout/design or real validation because it is mainly an example of what we would need to submit the form properly. They feel that it is up to the person/company implementing the form to make their own changes. This is because they could never provide one design that fits every layout.
Now you asked about having a custom field to the form... Can you clarify what you mean? Since this might mean 1 of two things... or both... I wanted to share what I have recently learned...
I 100% wish that Insightly would simply allow us to include the custom fields that we created for a contact instead of adding everything into the background field (as noted above), but I will take what I can get :)
Hope this helps.
Hi Jeff, thanks for the reply and good thread i saw that you created a HTML code, can you share that with me?
i'll change the basic stuff just dont know enough HTML to look good, we are designing our new website and want to have a form. what does this form connect to insightly? can i make it look really fancy if i knew how? i already sent the basic file to the company making our new website.
Once again thanks a lot Jeff
Hello,
I have placed the example form onto this temp page:
http://output.jsbin.com/pezoqokowa
If you view the source of the page, you will see the fields that Insightly provided, and the ones I added.
You asked about where the form is connected to. When you take the example code within Insightly, it gives you the proper URL (action) used to submit the form. In my example I took that out since no one needs to see that. But when submitting the form, all the data will be sent to that URL that they give you.
Also, I added in an example of a select box for them to tell you how they heard about you. You would just need to give the company doing your site the options you want in the select box.
Hope this helps.
I saw your HTML and was able to very easily customize it to my own options. I am wondering, when someone selects an option from your "Where did you hear about us?" drop down menu, where does that information go?
For example: If I select "Newspaper", complete the rest of the form and submit it where is the information from my "Newspaper" selection go on the Insightly end?
Many thanks in advance!
Hi Kiefer,
Custom Fields are not currently available for Web to Contact; therefore if you include a particular field such as "where did you hear about us?" we can't determine where the information will be mapped.
Hello Nora,
Is it not possible to run some tests internally with Insightly using these "custom forms"? For all we know there may be a simple solution to map it correctly and deliver the solution we've all been waiting for!
