html pasting in email templates (wysiwyg editor)

We like the new function of email templates but we won't be able to use it unless you provide the possibility to send out nicely formatted email templates to customers.

We design our emails basically in mailchimp and have them saved as canned responses (through the labs extension of gmail) but it is pretty complicated to maintain this system and also we have to change the name of the client each time.

There is no need to provide extended formatting capabilities just the possibility to paste an html code to a wysiwyg editor and placeholders.

Would you consider it to implement this? I thing this functionality would be welcomed by a lot of users.

  • Insightly email templates are a throwback to Outlook 95—this is simply not acceptable. As a marketing service provider, using Insightly to reach out to our prospects, emails need the ability to be properly formatted so they look as if they came from a marketing organization. Clearly Insightly doesn’t use their own tool to send out their marketing emails—how do they expect their paying customer to do it?

     
    We need the ability to insert multiple graphics in the body of the email. Standard HTML tags need to supported to allow for professional looking/formatted emails. Also needed is the ability to integrate variable data, even from custom fields.

  • Are there any planned future releases where this feature will be included?

    This would be invaluable to me in communicating my brand to my clients.

    For me personally, the editor wouldn't need to be changed at all, just the View Source button added.

  • Sorry to hear that @Tim. You can click on emails to send emails from your default email program or use other sources like Mailchimp. However, I can definitely understand the importance of your marketing/email campaigns to your customers.

  • I am a relatively new user and assumed this would exist when I bought in so rich text format is essential for me please. This is brand critical. How many votes does it take to get it over the line? Do we need to create a campaign to get enough votes? Thanks

  • We are all about the logo!  Please add this functionality, as we would like to keep our customer interactions both 1) branded and 2) centralized in Insightly.  Currently we have to choose between those two, we can't have both.

  • Agreed. My branding needs to be consistent across every email that I send. HTML email certainly isn't new. The whole point of a CRM system is to make things easier. It's very difficult when we still have to rely on other systems to manage customer communication that should be easily manageable through Insightly.We should also be able to use merge fields inside of hyperlinks so that merge data can be passed to websites via link click. (Example would be passing the customer's record ID to an "unsubscribe" page to help keep us compliant with the Can Spam Act).

  • I have commented on this before but simply can't understand why Insightly doesn't add the HTML feature to the email. Seems to me an incredibly juicy and low hanging fruit. On the flip side, NOT having the HTML feature subtracts significant value from the system.

  • Apparently Insightly abbreviated my earlier comments, anyway they need a better email reporting function. Simply telling me how many people opened the email does not do much for me because I am not a mass marketer. I need to know who opened it, how many times etc. I also need to know if the email bounced and by whom....

    Is there a certain amount of votes that could help push this higher up on the priority list? I've tried SO many CRM/Project Management platforms over the past few months and I honestly like yours the best (even though EVERY other CRM I tried offered HTML email). Without the capability of sending HTML email through Insightly, I've been forced to spend more time shopping around for other CRM solutions. Ideally, I'd like to stay with Insightly if I know that there is some sort of plan for HTML email to be implemented in the near future.

    You guys are great at what you do. The system is great -- it really is. There are just a few areas of opportunity to improve your system and make it the BEST CRM solution on the market!!!

    Our Product Manager has shared that we plan on revamping and improving Insightly's integration with MailChimp in the first half of 2016 for those looking for a better connection between a CRM and their marketing automation system. In the long term - which is likely beyond 2016 - we intend to support campaigns and marketing templates with full HTML support.

  • For my organisation that time scale is not going to work.

    We do not do large scale mailings or wish to integrate with MailChimp.

    What we require is HTML support in the email within Insightly.

    Accordingly with these time scales we will not be rolling out Insightly to our Distributor Network and I will be recommending moving away to an alternative CRM.
