Mailchimp Integration

I have created and re-created the API code and still some of the lists we have in Mailchimp are not showing up in insightly?

Anyone having a similar issue?

  • Hey Ian, I've determined that the import integration with MailChimp is insufficient for our needs so I manually add new leads as I don't want crap leads entered into our CRM.

  • I'm sorry you're having trouble with this.

Is the issue when you are importing your contacts from MailChimp? Please note that the list is limited to 25 MailChimp lists.

  • I do, I have a similar issue Karen. I get stuck the step after where you are.

Basically, I followed all the steps for the integration, entered both the API keys where I needed to and I can see the integration is working because I can see my MC lists when I click on 'Import Contacts And Notes' BUT once I pick the list I want to import, nothing happens and I get the message 'invalid id for mailchimp import'

I assumed it might be a field mapping issue so I created all of the custom fields in Insightly that my MC lists contain but still no importing anything...

What am I doing wrong or what is the issue? Thanks, Julie

  • Hi Julie:

Can you try resetting the API in Mailchimp?

To do this, you will go into your MailChimp account click on 'Your Name' in the top-left, then click 'Account Settings.'

Then click 'Extras,' then 'API Keys.' Then click 'Create A Key' to generate a new API key.

Once you have that key, go back into your Insightly account. Click on the Profile Icon in the top right, then select 'System Settings,' then 'MailChimp Integration.' Delete the API there and paste in the new one that you have just generated, then hit 'Save Settings.'

After you have done that, I would log out of your Insightly account then log back in.

Hopefully doing this will fix the connection! If not, please let us know and we will continue to investigate.

  • Hi Lyla, thanks for your response. I had done exactly that to integrate but I followed the process again hoping your instructions would make a difference but it made none.

    See screen grab attached.

Not being able to to do this is really inconvenient and holding back a lot of my activities. Could you please let me know what else I need to do to make this work?

  • Hi Julie,

Can you give me the first name of the contact and which Mailchimp list you are exporting to so I can test some more?

    Thank you :)

  • Hi Lyla,

I'm not sure what you mean by the name of the contact as I'm trying to import entire lists.

I'd like to start with the one named Medical & Dentals Students as per the below screen grab.

  • Thank you for the clarification that you are importing from Mailchimp into Insighlty and not the other way around Julie.

Going to test this and get back to you!

  • Hi Julie:

Do any of your contacts in Mailchimp have  square brackets like [ or ]?

If so, this is what is throwing the error from Mailchimp and stops the import completely. This is something that they (Mailchimp) are aware of and hope to fix.

For the time being these brackets would need to be removed. Once you do this, the import should work fine.

Let me know if that's the case :)

  • Hi Lyla,

I'm a bit confused as to why my contacts would have this anywhere in the fields but I can assure they don't. Even exporting the csv files from Mailchimp, I can't see any so that's not the issue here, guaranteed!

Have you got anything else? Ta

  • Hi Lisa:

There were a couple of updates late last week that addressed a couple of things we were seeing in MailChimp. Are you still running into trouble? If so, please share some additional details on what you're seeing so we can look into it for you!

  • Thanks, Lyla. I have tickets in for the other issues because there is nothing to help with them in the forum. I just happened to come across this one while I was looking and thought it pertinent to share that I had the exact some problem last week. :) Appreciate the quick follow up though.

  • I am having the same problem, or similar.

Mailchimp is not syncing the lists to our Mailchimp account. It only shows 1 list, from an entirely different API credential and account that has nothing to do with the API key that has been re-associated 10 different times in the settings for Inisghtly.

  • Hi @Lauren,

Sorry to hear you were seeing a limited view. When you view a contact, we'll only show you the Mailchimp lists where the contact has been sent an email campaign. If I view your account and choose to "import" from Mailchimp I'm able to see 9 lists to choose from. Can you double check if any of your lists are missing?

  • I am replying on behalf of Lauren above.

When I am in the account and I choose to "import" from mailchimp I was seeing the list from a previously associated API key and NOT the list of mailchimp lists that is associated with the new account. Essentially I see NONE of the lists that I am supposed to be seeing and 1 list I shouldn't be seeing.

I can double check this again.

  • I just checked it and it seems to finally be associated correctly on my account at least.

Before its almost like it was lagging and we updated our API keys and it never transitioned to the new account.

Is this usually how it happens or is it supposed to be instant? I'm talking this took days.

  • Hi Matthew,

It really shouldn't take days. I have heard of an hour delay before but never as long as it took for you. I'm glad to hear it's working. We'll make sure to keep an eye out on this.

  • Hello, I am having exactly the same issue. It is saying that the import is scheduled but nothing happens. Is anyone still having this problem?

  • I had this exact same issue.  The leads in my MailChimp lists would not import into Insightly.  But then, I figured out a workaround and it is functioning properly now.  If you have not segmented you list, then I recommend you try doing so.  It just takes a minute.  Go to your list, and select the Manage Contacts menu and then click on Segments in the dropdown.  From there, create a segment.  Since I don't really have a need to break my leads into segments yet....I created a segment rule that would include all of my leads.
Once you've completed that part, try importing leads again...this time select your Mailchimp List...and...your MailChimp List Segment.

Now go and look at your Leads, you may need to refresh or wait a minute.  It should work for you.  Good luck!
