Outlook 2016

Hi, I was wondering whether you can integrate outlook 2016 with Insightly.

  • My question is why don't you have the vote come from the application rather than the community?  How many users actually frequent the community?  Think the numbers would change significantly.

  • Hi Ron,

Thanks for taking the time to post your question.

Our records indicate we have a large majority of our users accessing the community.  The Insightly application doesn't offer the option to add a vote; since Insightly is built as a personal app with your own individual data. The community is a public forum where feedback, suggestions and questions can be asked and supported. It's supported in a different format where the public would be able to view all information.

  • Hi Stephen,

Per the response from one of our engineers on March 8th, "it is looking unlikely that we'll be able to deliver this request in the near future."

I'll make sure to keep you and community posted if anything changes.

  • Wow!  Found the CRM that is just right for my business, but I was really looking to connect to Outlook 2016.

  • This is a shame there is no intergration with Outlook 2016. This would benefit our business substantially, we could increase our insightly user count 4x fold immediately. Without this it wouldn't be worth it.

  • ... thinking about moving to Salesforce just for that reason...

  • Another problem that seems to have been kicked into the long grass. At the beginning of the thread, this was going to be released in Q1 2016, now it's unlikely to be available in the near future. Whatever that means.

I'd love to know exactly what Insightly's idea of important functionality actually is, as it seems to be somewhat tangential to that of the needs of the userbase.

Please note that a patronising response to this will just annoy me even more; actions speak louder than platitudes.

  • Hi Michael:

Sorry you feel this way, we try our best to make improvements that will benefit the majority of our customers. This is one of the factors that is taken into consideration when prioritizing features and the reason why copying records, bulk updating via import and time tracking are on the priority list.

Updates to Microsoft are also on our radar and as we mentioned above, we are not dropping support or plans for an Outlook integration.

  • As part of the integration, should allow for Activities that are synced into Insightly to be reportable - https://support.insight.ly/hc/en-us/community/posts/210669087-Allow-External-Activities-To-Be-Reported

  • Im trying this crm on a free basis.   2 things are stopping me from subscription.  1.  you couldnt get reports of the informaiton you the crm, but now with reporting its good,  the second is outlook contacts sync and 2016 outlook working,  from reading the posts, this has been going on for about a  year, why does it take engineers so long, is it coming?  not fair to string people along, thanks

  • Hello everyone, and thank you for continuing to push for this improvement. Support of Office 2016 is planned and will be delivered in the upcoming months. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to dedicate resources to this request so far due to a very resource-consuming development project. We plan to address this request along with a series of other improvements as soon as our engineering resources become available again in the next 2-3 months. Thank you for your patience.

  • To give kudos, I can now click on an email link and it's giving me a new email with the Insightly BCC filled in, which wasn't working for a while.

  • As of Friday I can no longer get the app to work on outlook 2016 for mac. When I removed the app and added it back in it now works on safari and chrome again but not outlook which was what we really need. I called in on Monday and was told I was not the only one experiencing this problem. Do we have any updates on this yet?

  • Hi Joseph,

We currently do not have an integration available for Outlook 2016. Can you provide me a bit more information on what does seem to work for you and who you may have spoken with?

  • Very strange. Everything works the same as the office 365 app however the blue "Save Email" button does not appear. In addition it appears to keep searching for the primary contact on the email however shows you all of the same information when you click on the icon to the right of their name. The only additional fuctionality I'd really want is to be able to see the "Save Email" Button at this point. This feature appears to work randomly out of the blue moon sometimes. Very strange.

  • Not being able to use Outlook 365/2016 is a big draw back.

With over 25% of the market moving to Windows 365, I sincerely think you should review your priorities.

This is the only reason why I don’t personally upgrade to a paying plan.

But the really bad news is the fact that I am a consultant in Customers experience and CRM good practices implementation, and support my client in CRM software selection and supplier.

I can no longer recommend Insightly to my clients for 2 reasons. About 20% of them are already with Office 365. And I can’t recommend a product that imposes upgrades limitations for the all business.

I really hope you will have a solution available in fall of 2016.

  • We have Joseph Auday's updated response here:

I bought a new MacBook and Outlook 2016 integrates with it perfectly now. Very strange.

Just a reminder that you must be in the community to leave a comment. Please do not reply to the email notification because your comment will not get posted -- and that's the only way we can continue helping you! Thanks!

  • Works great! Thank you for pushing this forward. Really stacks up against the higher priced CRMs out there.

  • Hi Param, Tom, and Paul,

My apologies for any confusion! Improvements were made to the existing app so that it now supports Outlook 2016. This will bridge the gap until we release something similar to our existing Gmail Sidebar. Our existing Help Articles that say Outlook 2013 will also apply to 2016 and we'll be updating these over the next few weeks. Hope this helps to clear things up!

  • Hi everyone,

I noticed that some users were requesting a Office 365 / Outlook.com contacts sync with Insightly, so Im happy to say that a two-way real time contacts sync is now available via PieSync integration. You can find more information about PieSync on Insightly's integrations page or on our website.

Let me know if you require any further assistance,

    Grega

  • Afternoon -

Office 365 - (Microsoft) is having trouble upgrading my office 365 plan to the 2016 version.  It's "possible" that my Exchange link with insightly is causing the issue.  I tried to erase the Exchange credentials in my user setting but the system won't allow me to leave it blank and repopulates it with the same exchange connection settings. I can't provide new credentials until I get the office 365 issue resolved...and around I go on the merry go round.

It is possible that the connection setting are not allowing my office 365 Account to update my service plan with office 365.  I'm very frustrated any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I tried contacting insightly support via email using my personal gmail address and they just sent me and email back stating that I'm not a paying customer.  I am - I just can't access my business email associated with my insightly account until I have the exchange issue remedied.  My insightly customer information is all under the business email account with office 365 which I can't access at the moment to send an email to the for help.

Any advice or suggestions....I'm quickly running out of options. Thanks

    Hi Kevin:

I see that you were able to open a ticket with us and our support team will be in touch through there to trouble shoot.

Those on a paid plan will have the option to contact Customer Support via email directly by opening a ticket but you'll want to be sure that you log into Insightly's Support site with the same email address you use on your Insighlty account. This way you'll see all the options that are available to your plan :)

  • UPDATE - 22 August 2016. The issue is with Google created InSightly Accounts.  Eg. The addin works on Non Google accounts but not with Google created accounts.

Hi, I must be doing something wrong or have a glitch I can work out.

    • The insightly gadget is installed.
    • When I click on it A big square appear and in the top left is says "Log in to my Insightly account
    • When I click on this link a pop out windo appears and asks for my Email address and password
    • When I enter these details it logs me into insightly in the popout windoe.
    • No matter what I do... close the windw, minimise it, leave it open the gadget just says "authenticating"
    • When I refresh or select a different email the "Log into my Insighly account" comes up again.
    • Have tried accross both mac and windows in Safari, Chrome, Edge and get the exact same process I have mentioned.

    Any ideas

    Thanks

  • Please provide a stand alone Outlook 2016 desktop Insightly client.  That I can use with Outlook 2016 (not with Office 365).  I have used Outlook for 20+ years and can't stand the Gmail interface but am using Google Apps for Business.  My Outlook client integrates and works great with Google Apps.  Thank you.
