Custom Categories Not Showing Up on Android App

Tagging currently isn't a function on the Android Insightly app, and now apparently neither is custom categories. I made sure in the admin panel to add the custom categories I wanted, and check the box that they are applicable to tasks. If I try to create a task on my computer it works great, but they don't appear as options on the app.

I really like insightly and want continue using it, but if none of my customization options are available on the phone app what good is it? The whole point is to link things for future reference, and I can't seem to make that happen.

Please help me figure this out if I've just messed up, or please add some of the customization to your next Android build. The customization and ease of use are some of the main reasons I convinced my company to use this CRM.

Thanks!

  • Also, on the website in the tasks screen "Categories" has it's own button right at the top. So it is obviously of some importance when dealing with task management.

Why can't I sort by category on the Android app? This is a secondary problem very much related to my inability to add a category to new tasks.

  • Hello Anthony, thank you for your questions!

You can add tags to a couple of the record types within the mobile apps. Namely, contacts and organizations. However, it's not currently possible to filter by tags.

Also, categories are not available for sorting within the mobile apps. However, custom categories are supported on our mobile apps for Tasks, Opportunities and Projects in a sense that you can specify a Category when adding a task, project, opportunity when adding or editing an item.

The mobile app is constantly being improved with additions and new features and these are features we're hoping to add in the future.

I understand the need for these and appreciate your feedback!

  • I agree.

This is essential for anyone using GTD as a task management system.

I'd love to migrate all my tasks into insightly from Wunderlist, but without this feature I have to keep using 2 pieces of software.

  • Hi, jumping in here to make sure there is no confusion:

    1) Custom categories are available in Insightly's mobile apps.  This is available if you are trying to create or edit a record and visible for each item on the view screen.

    2) You can also tag records, or remove tags as well as create new tags by simply adding a brand new tag to your record.

    3) Unfortunately, there isn't a way to sort or filter on categories and tags at the moment, but given that it's a popular request it is definitely on our roadmap. See this post: https://support.insight.ly/hc/en-us/community/posts/203157750-Search-tags-on-mobile-app

    Thanks!
