Validation Errors when saving gmails as tasks

When I save a gmail as a task with the Insightly sidebar I almost always get "Could not save changes due to validation errors". In red at the bottom, it says "Description must be less than 4000 characters".  

It seems there is a bunch of open space, big gaps in the email that I have to delete. How do you fix this so I don't have to delete multiple lines every time I try to create a new task from gmail?

    I apologize for the delay in our response and for having to experience this!

    Can you provide me with one more piece of information to help troubleshoot this? If you can please provide a screenshot of your view when saving an email as a task using the Insightly Add-On for Gmail or if you are using the Insightly Sidebar for Outlook.

  • It happens when the emails are longer. It spaces out the email in a long format. Huge spaces.

  • Hello, I have been getting the same message for about a week when attempting to save to-do items to contacts and emails using the web interface. The message at the top is the same as Eric's: "could not save changes due to validation errors".

    I apologize for this. Do you have an example of an email you attempt to save as a task with the Insightly Add-On? Please note that the error message is working as intended if your email does exceed the 4000 characters count.

    The error occurs when we are attempting to save a new "To-Do" item to an email in Insightly on the web.

    Can you clarify the exact steps you are taking I'd like to attempt to replicate this on my end? As well do you think your email exceeds the 4000 characters limit?

    I get the huge line of code that I placed on the first post. The email itself is spread out when it gets turned into a task as to be over 4000 characters. All of this junk comes before the email in the task description.

    Please keep in mind this the issue here was done to the character count is 4000 characters. The email from which you are creating a Task exceeds the character count. Let me know if you are experiencing this same issue.

  • My email doesn't exceed the 4000 characters. That huge line of code is created by Insightly when the email text is populated into the description. Just like the issue Mr. Jones is having.

  • Thank you, Ray. Alejandro, the issue might be the 21 lines of code that I've posted 2x. That code is an Insightly issue, not a user issue. I didn't put 21 lines of code in my email. On top of the lines of code, the email itself is spaced out when Insightly tries to save the task. 

    This is what my signature looks like: See the spacing. 4000 characters are used up quickly with lines of code and huge spacing between sentences.
