How to Clone Dashboards and Dashboard Cards

Cloning creates an identical copy of Dashboards and Dashboard Cards that can be modified without altering the information on the original Dashboard or Dashboard Card. If you want to experiment with card data, but are afraid of losing what you've already created, cloning is the solution.

Standard Dashboards cannot be cloned. Dashboard Cards and custom Dashboards that you or other users have created can be cloned if you have permission to access them.

How to Clone a Dashboard

  1. Go to Dashboards. Click the three-dot menu to the right of the Dashboard you want to clone.

  2. Click Clone This Dashboard.

  3. Fill out the Name and Description for the cloned Dashboard.

  4. Optionally, you can click the Also Clone All Dashboard Cards checkbox. This checkbox is not checked by default. If checked, Insightly will clone every Card within the Dashboard, then create a new Dashboard with all the cloned Dashboard Cards within it. All dashboard drill path cards will be cloned as well when cloning an entire dashboard.

Everything about the Card will remain the same, but " - clone" will be added to the end of the Card name.
If Also Clone All Dashboard Cards is left unchecked, the newly cloned Dashboard will share the same Cards with the original Dashboard. So if a user were to edit the Card on the cloned Dashboard, it would also update the card on the original Dashboard.

  5. Set the Sharing Settings for the Dashboard.

  6. Click Save.

You can also clone the card from the Dashboard page.

  1. Go to Dashboards. Select a custom Dashboard.

  2. Click the Actions dropdown and select Clone This Dashboard.
