How to set up a field dependency

When you have two dropdown fields that relate to one another, you might want the field selection of the first to determine which fields appear in the second. You can do this with Field Dependencies.

Since this feature requires a single selection, it's only for dropdown fields and not multi-select dropdowns.

To set up a field dependency:

  1. Go to System Settings > Objects and Fields.

  2. Select the object you want to create a field dependency for.

  3. From the Object Management list, select Field Dependencies. Click Add Dependency Mapping.

  4. Select your Parent Field and your Dependent Field.

  5. Select the dependent field values. To select more than one value, hold the Ctrl key while clicking on each value.

  6. Click Preview to test your mappings.

  7. Click Save Mappings.
